Polls open an extra hour

According to the Washington Post, Montgomery County Polls will be open an hour later than usual, until 9:00 pm. So go out and vote. See also the Circuit Court Order, and the statement at the State Board of Elections.

Problem-free but lonely voting this afternoon

My wife and I voted this afternoon at Gaithersburg Elementary. We were the only voters there, and thus were outnumbered both by electioneers and election judges. I tried to make a joke about not being able to complain about the lines, but there didn’t seem to be much humor in the room and it fell flat. The poll worker who escorted me to a machine said something about wanting to have the machines used evenly, and she took me to the one furthest to the back. She then said that I was voter number sixteen for that machine — and the polls had been open for more than six hours. Whatever problems there may have been early in the day seem to have been fixed by that time.
