District 6 of MCPD (which mostly covers Gaithersburg, Washington Grove & Montgomery Village) has released their 1/17/07 weekly report. This report details:

  • 4 Robberies
  • 2 Aggravated Assaults
  • 8 Commercial Burglaries
  • 4 Residential Burglaries
  • 22 Thefts from Vehicles
  • 5 Stolen Vehicles
  • 1 Recovered Vehicle

Quoting the report,

District Overview:

  • Two of the robberies occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday 1/16 and may have been committed by the same suspects.
  • There was a large jump in commercial burglaries this week. The burglaries in S1 and S2 may be related to two burglaries the same night in the 5th District.
  • There was also an increase in vehicle-related events this week. In the P1, R2 and S2 beats, the majority of the events in each beat were clustered together.

A few selected incidents:

  • An armed robbery occurred on a bus at Montgomery Village Avenue and Walker’s Choice Road. The victim and the suspects got on the bus at the Denny’s on Montgomery Village Avenue. One suspect asked the victim’s friend what he would do if the suspect took his phone. Another suspect put a knife to the victim’s side and demanded his phone and jacket. They also obtained a Nano Ipod, as well as a Northface jacket and a pair of Air Jordan shoes. The suspects got out at a bus stop on Walkers Choice Road and fled on foot. Another robbery occurred a few minutes later on Club House Road, possibly committed by the same suspects.

    Suspect: B/M, 6’/140 lbs., corn-rowed hair, white bandana with green ‘$’ signs on it, red jacket, white, red & black shoes

    Suspect: B/M, 6’4”, afro, black jacket, had a red pick in his hair Suspect: B/M, black hooded sweatshirt

  • A strong-armed robbery occurred at Club House Road and Montgomery Village Avenue on Tuesday 1/16 between 1450 and 1500 hours. The victim and his friend rode a bus from Lakeforest Mall to Club House Road. They were walking and noticed one suspect in front of them and one in back of them. The suspects ‘bumped’ into the victim and demanded his IPod. The victim refused at first but gave it up when the suspect displayed a knife in his waistband and threatened to cut the victim. The victim fled on foot and the suspects were last seen running towards the Montgomery Village Shopping Center.

    Suspect: B/M, 17 yrs. old, 5’1”-5’11”, afro tied back in a ponytail with a red pick, camouflage jacket, blue jeans

    Suspect: BM, 17 yrs. old, 5’10”, dredlocks, dark complexion, red jacket with red sleeves, black jeans

  • A student was assaulted by another at 19300 Watkins Mill Road, by the Montgomery Village Middle School on Friday 1/12 at 1513 hours. The victim and his friend were walking behind the suspect and a group of his friends. The suspect displayed a switchblade knife and waved it around before putting it back in his pocket. He chased the victim and his friend back to the school. Officers are to file charges on the suspect.

    Suspect: Juvenile, H/M, 14 yrs. old, 5’5”/135 lbs., of Cambridge Court

  • A distraction-type theft occurred at the Magruders, 602 Quince Orchard Road on Saturday 1/13 between 1455 and 1500 hours. The victim said she thought the first suspect was autistic so she was assisting him in looking for items and left her purse in her cart. A citizen saw the second suspect take the victim’s purse.

    Suspect: W/M, 20-25 yrs. old, 6’/180-200 lbs, crew cut, long-sleeved ivory shirt, jeans, white sneakers with blue stripes

    Suspect: W/F, 20-25 yrs. old, 5’6”-5’7”/100-120 lbs., ponytail, blue down vest, light blue corduroy pants

  • An armed robbery occurred next to the railroad tracks at 200 E. Diamond Avenue on Tuesday 1/9 at 2208 hours. The victim and his friend were walking when the suspect came from the shadows and knocked the victim down. The suspect’s hood was tied up so only his eyes were showing. The suspect displayed a black gun and demanded money. The suspect was tracked to Brooks Avenue by MCP K9 . The description of this suspect is very similar to a suspect who committed a robbery on N. Summit Avenue on 1/5;

    Suspect: B/M, 24-25 yrs. old, 5’8”-5’10”/170-180 lbs., nylon black jacket, jeans
