MoCo over at The New MoCo Progressive posted last night that he has obtained information that suggests that the Duvall Center 7-Eleven franchise owner will be on his own in any appeals of the loss of their license to sell beer and wine:
“Sales of alcohol products in Montgomery County are just not that important to the 7-Eleven Corporation,” said our source. “We want to be a friend of the community.”
I certainly congratulate and thank 7-Eleven for taking this position, and look forward to the Duvall 7-Eleven returning to its role of being an asset to the neighborhood, rather than the magnet for problems it had become. In any event, taken together with the opening of the Derwood Day Laborer Center, there are a dwindling number of reasons for anyone to be hanging around in that parking lot with no apparent purpose. Possibly, neighborhood kids will even be able to walk there to get Slurpees® again.
Update: As MoCo points out, a recent story in the Gazette mentions that the franchise owner does plan to file an appeal.
