The bear is likely the same one that was seen in Gaithersburg Monday and in Potomac June 27, according to Robert Beyer, assistant director of the Maryland Wildlife and Heritage Division of the Department of Natural Resources. It probably became disoriented in its search for a new home.
‘‘It’s been around for the past week or two,” he said. ‘‘What we have here is a second-year male looking for a new home.”
