  • City Council Approves Aquatic Center Concept

    The Gaithersburg City Council approved the revised concept plan for the $25-million Gaithersburg Aquatic and Recreation Center at its August 20 meeting, and the design review is now headed to the Planning Commission. The project is slated to be built adjacent to the communities of Kentlands and Lakelands on a 7.49-acre parcel of land on Edison Park Drive off Route 28.

  • City Attorney Cathy Borten Resigns

    Gaithersburg City Attorney Cathy Borten, a Kentlands resident, has announced her resignation effective September 21 to pursue another professional opportunity.

  • MedImmune Opens New Pilot Lab

    MedImmune has opened a new, state-of-the-art pilot lab facility located on the same Gaithersburg site as its corporate headquarters in Quince Orchard Park. With its cutting-edge equipment and process automation systems, the facility will support MedImmune’s expanding clinical product pipeline by providing additional capacity and flexibility.

Aggravated Assault
On 09/09/07, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the 18400 block of Lost Knife Circle for a stabbing. The victim sustained injuries to his ear. The suspect was located a short distance away and charged with first degree assault.

This is the second reported area stabbing in less than a week.

Friday, September 07, 2007
Burglary
On 09/07/07, between 5:45 p.m. and 9:35 p.m., an unknown person entered a residence in the unit block of N Glade Court and stole property. There were no signs of forced entry and it is unknown how entry was gained. Investigation is ongoing.

N Glade Court is north of Victory Farm, between Girard & Saybrooke Oaks.

Strong Arm Robbery
On 09/07/07, around 6:30 a. m., in the area of Muddy Branch Road and Palm Springs Drive 2 separate victims reported having their purses forcibly taken. Suspect ran away on foot.
Suspect: Black male, early 20’s, 5′06, medium build, wearing all black clothes.

Palmspring drive is south of West Side Drive.
