Police say the victims and suspects in a spate of violent attacks at or near county transit centers, including one fatal stabbing, are involved with local factions of the Bloods and Crips gangs.

“It is difficult to attribute this recent gang violence to a single factor,” said Assistant Chief Wayne Jerman, director of the Investigative Services Bureau. “These recent incidents appear to be based on personal disagreements between gang members.”

Montgomery County police are stepping-up patrols in the Gaithersburg and Rockville areas because of escalating violence attributed to the Crips and Bloods - two nationally known and feared criminal gangs.
