Serious Vehicle Collision Turned Fatal in Gaithersburg Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a now fatal collision that occurred on December 7 in Gaithersburg.
On December 7 at approximately 12:16 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the report of a serious personal injury collision that occurred at the intersection of Woodfield Road and Fieldcrest Road in Gaithersburg.
The preliminary investigation revealed that James Edward Keethers, age 67, of the 10000 block of Ridgeline Drive in Montgomery Village, was traveling in a 1988 Toyota Camry heading southbound on Woodfield Road. Mr. Keethers attempted to turn left onto Fieldcrest Road and was struck by a 2008 GMC Yukon driven by Diane Marie Aubley, age 40, of the 24200 block of Hawkins Landing Road in Gaithersburg. She was heading northbound on Woodfield Road.
Mr. Keethers was transported to Suburban Hospital for his injuries which were not originally diagnosed as life-threatening. As time passed his condition worsened and he succumbed to his injuries on December 31.
Anyone who witnessed this collision and has not already spoken to police is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. No charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing.
