    Gaithersburg leaders are raising questions about aspects of County Executive Isiah Leggett’s proposal to relocate several county agencies to a 96-acre property on the city’s southern edge, between the Kentlands and Lakelands communities.

  • Patricia M. Murret writes, Official hacks boss’ e-mail account:

    A Gaithersburg assistant city manager apparently violated city policy in October by hacking into the then-city manager’s e-mail and sending inappropriate messages from the account.

  • Sebastian Montes writes, Solicitation ordinance delayed again:

    For the fourth time in less than a year, the Gaithersburg City Council has voted to push back the date to begin enforcing its controversial anti-solicitation ordinance as Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler continues his deliberation over whether the measure is constitutional.

  • Patricia M. Murret writes, Gaithersburg mayor and council set strategic retreat next week:

    The Mayor and City Council’s annual retreat begins Monday night. The retreat is a forum for city officials to develop the city’s strategic plan after hearing input from city residents and budget needs from city staff.

    An early morning fire last week at the vacant West Deer Park Apartments in Gaithersburg caused a partial building collapse and an estimated $500,000 in damage, according to county firefighters.

    Homeowners used to receiving an automatic state property tax credit will have to apply for the credit under a law passed last year aimed at preventing tax fraud.

    County Executive Isiah Leggett’s plan to freeze a program that provides free Ride On and Metrobus rides for students 18 and younger after school has parents who rely on the service wondering why cutting a program that would save the county only $25,000 was targeted.
