Three Gaithersburg City Council candidates including elected member Ryan Spiegel will not face any further inquiry after the city’s Board of Supervisors of Elections ruled the candidates did not violate city election laws.

Felton said an unofficial opinion from the state’s Attorney General’s Office suggested that state laws were broken.

The board is also asking the United States postmaster general to investigate whether certain mailings by One Gaithersburg and its affiliates improperly used a nonprofit postal rate to mail campaign literature.
