The robbery and assault trials of a former Gaithersburg High School student were halted last week after a jury acquitted him in the third of 10 cases and his lawyer called for new trials on two earlier convictions citing a questionable confession.
The cases, which are being tried separately in Montgomery County Circuit Court, are on hold until May 5 while the lawyer seeks to have the confession and an apology statement of Dion Harvey Montgomery excluded from evidence.
