NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

The Mayor and City Council of Gaithersburg will hold a public hearing and policy discussion on Monday, May 5, 2008 in the Council Chambers at City Hall at 31 South Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877.  The public is invited to attend to present comments on the City’s DRAFT Consolidated Plan for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, due to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on May 16, 2008.  Applicants for CDBG funds are also invited to attend this hearing.

Following approval of Gaithersburg’s Consolidated Plan and one-year Action Plan, the City expects to receive $444,977 in FY09 funds, and approximately $1,743,000 in Program Income for CDBG eligible projects. 

All comments received will be considered and summarized in the Plan prior to its submission to HUD.

District 6 Crime Report for the week ending 04/23/08

Via Connected Communites, where reports for all six districts are available.

P1 Beat:

  • A rape was reported in the 15700 block of Mahogany Circle in Gaithersburg on Wednesday, 4/16 around 9:00 p.m. The victim stated she was at a nearby restaurant and walked home. The suspect sexually assaulted her in her apartment. Investigation is continuing.
  • A residential burglary occurred Tuesday, 4/15 around 2:45 p.m. on Redding Ridge Drive in Gaithersburg. An adult male was found inside the victim’s home by a neighbor. Unknown means of entry, nothing taken.
  • An aggravated assault / home invasion occurred on Orchard Drive in Gaithersburg on Monday, 4/21 around 3:30 p.m. The victim was attacked by three suspects inside his residence. Unknown means of entry, the victim was assaulted.

P2 Beat:

  • A residential burglary occurred in the 200 block of Thaxton Street in Gaithersburg on Friday, 4/18 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Forced entry, property taken.

R1 Beat:

  • An assault occurred in the 9900 block of Walker House Road in Montgomery Village on Monday, 4/21 at 4:00 p.m. when two male suspects fired paint balls at the victim. The victim saw the suspects shooting from a third floor apartment in the 9900 block of Walker House Road and contacted police.

R2 Beat:

  • A strong arm robbery was reported in the 19200 block of Montgomery Village Avenue in Montgomery Village on Tuesday, 4/15 at 6:55 p.m. Five male suspects accosted the victim and demanded property. Five suspects were located nearby with the victims’ property and were arrested.
  • An armed robbery was reported on Strath Haven Court in Montgomery Village on Friday, 4/18 around 10:00 p.m. The victim was approached by a suspect known only as Daniel who claimed the victim owed him money. The suspect displayed a knife and demanded property.
  • An armed robbery occurred on Saturday, 4/20 at 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Centerway Road and Club House Road in Montgomery Village. Two suspects approached the victim and displayed a knife demanding property.
  • A residential burglary was reported in the 19300 block of Frenchton Place in Montgomery Village sometime between Thursday, 4/17 and Sunday, 4/20. Forced entry, nothing taken.

S1 Beat:

  • An armed robbery occurred on Federal Court in Gaithersburg on Tuesday, 4/22 around 10:15 p.m. One suspect was armed with a handgun, the victim was assaulted and property was taken.

S2 Beat:

  • An aggravated assault was reported at Woodfield Road and Muncaster Mill Road in Gaithersburg on Tuesday, 4/22 around 7:20 p.m. Five male suspects were reported fighting at the bus stop. Two victims, both intoxicated, were located suffering from minor injuries. Investigation is continuing.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, 4/17 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the 18500 block of Mountain Laurel Terrace in Gaithersburg. Forced entry, property taken.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 7400 block of Lake Katrine Terrace in Gaithersburg. A suspect was developed and arrested.
  • A shooting was reported on Tuesday, 4/22 around 12:50 a.m. when shots were fired into a townhouse in the 8400 block of Meadow Green Way in Gaithersburg. Although several rounds penetrated the interior, there were no injuries.
