Probably the most interesting parts of Monday’s Council meeting are the three public hearings. The first hearing, on T-385, is an effort at limiting mansionization — huge additions, and the tearing down of small homes to be replaced with large structures which are incompatible with their neighborhoods. The second hearing is regarding the request to rezone some properties on West Diamond Ave into the CBD zone. This is the same issue as was discussed under Z-308(o) in the June 16 meeting. The third hearing has to do with changing the OldeTowne affordable housing policy exemption to apply to the newly-created Enterprise Zone rather than the CBD planning zone, as it does now. The reason for doing this is that, while some council members were supportive of granting the rezoning under Z-308(o), they were not all supportive of extending the affordable housing exemption to this project.
