City continues expansion and park building in the midst of deep recession. Good idea?

How many of us have cut back on our personal expenditures in reaction to the realities of the financial situation our country is facing? But not our City, oh no.

The City cannot afford what we have but our Mayor and Council are going to get more and you are going to pay for it. Even as they have dipped into saving for the last two years and spent $6,000,000+ to pay for bonuses, park expansion, and other frills.

Yes, they did increase the Police Department's budget, but our town is overrun with crime and GPD was dying, strangled by lack of funding at the hands of our previous City Manager.

Ms. Jones, please stop them. Your background as one who has audited cities and analyzed their spending against their revenue....stop them.

Tell them what is affordable. Like little kids they have a problem determining the difference between need and want. We don't need to expand. We don't need new parks.

Do what your taxpayers are doing, cut back until things get better.

Concerning the article about sentencing. From the same article

Reconsiderations, argue victims' rights groups, give offenders a second shot at sentencing well after the emotion of trial has passed. State law requires prosecutors to notify victims who have requested notice if reconsideration is scheduled and document the notification, or the hearing cannot take place.

The reconsideration hearing also takes place AFTER the focus of the PRESS has waned. Judge Thompson's behavior in this case is reprehensible. There needs to be a vehicle to have inept judges removed from office. Judge Thompson does not appear to have the best interest of the community in mind when he coddles violent criminals like Henderson.
